Historical review and formation of PE AGRO-BERZA

The Macedonian market is too small to accept the entire production of agricultural and food products. Because of this, a large part of agricultural production was placed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and in Eastern European countries. Due to the loss of these markets, there was a need to find new markets where the Republic of Macedonia could place its surpluses.

In order to increase the export of agricultural and food products, the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia adopted a decision to establish the Public Enterprise AGRO BERZA as a specialized enterprise that will assist in the placement of agricultural and food products, primarily in the placement of these products on foreign markets.

In accordance with the orientation towards market conditions for operation, the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia on 13.05.1992 adopted the “Law on Stock Exchanges of Agricultural and Food Products” and the “Decision on the Establishment of the Public Enterprise for Stock Exchange Operations Agro-Berza” published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 32/92. In accordance with this law and decision adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, a legal framework for the functioning of the Public Enterprise Agro-Berza Skopje was created.

The real conditions for starting work of this company are met after the decision to approve the Statute of PE Agro-Berza Skopje was made by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia at the thirty-fourth session held on 19.01.1998.
